Thank you for visiting my blog. Obviously everything is pretty new around here, but I’ll soon be building the site up with lots of interesting content.
Whether you’re an experienced self-published author who wants to share their story, a neophyte about to set out on the exciting road to putting out your own book, or a fan of the authors I’ll be talking to, welcome one and all.
I’m currently writing what I hope will be a comprehensive, useful and – ideally – inspiring book about self-publishing that will be launching in early 2018. It’s based on my experience self-publishing my memoir (as Andrew Emery), quitting my job and throwing myself heart-and-soul into the world of doing it for yourself. It’s about the selfless and supportive people I’ve found along the way: the bloggers who share their hard-won knowledge. The Facebook support groups where people swap best practice and advice and gently critique each other’s covers, marketing plans, book blurbs, you name it.
It also aims to coalesce the latest ‘best ways to self-publish’, whether you’re looking to just put your book on Kindle or you want to see your paperback on the shelf of a shop. It’s about how if an idiot like me can do it, you almost certainly can, and should.
Advice, opinion and books. Lots of books.
So I’ll be blogging about aggregators, cover design, formatters, self-publishing news and, not being the shy-and-retiring type, wading in on any controversies in this world. I’ll also be speaking to lots of self-published authors about how they did it, why they did it and, importantly, exactly what it is they’ve done.
And if that isn’t enough, I’ll also be poking my nose into how and where they write, banging on about the latest books I’ve read, and hopefully making this into a nice place to come for advice and opinion on the ever-changing world of self-publishing.
